Following are a few stories, one which takes us back to my 9th paternal great grandfather Per Danielsson Hästbacka, who was murdered in 1653 in Kronoby, Finland. The other is about Homestead Marks, a mark folks made on an official document instead of a signature when the person could not write. My 7th grandfather, Jakob Granö’s mark is among the marks shown.

You can also read about Jakob’s great grandfather or my 10th grandfather, Matts Olofsson H. Granö. He was born in 1618 and died in 1680. He got in a fight with one of his neighbors, Joseph Hindersson Warg, whom we also happen to be related to. Disputes over property lines were not uncommon when property lines ran from tree to tree or from this rock to that rock or tree. There were many a bloody noses, black and blue eyes, before boundary lines were finally established.
These stories were researched, and brought to the light of day by June Pelo, to whom we are related through Joseph H. Warg, her 9th grandfather.
